Prompt #1: Asking Questions and Breaking Assumptions

Before choosing a field for your future people may ask, what will the job be like? , What do other people do and say? , and did they like it or not. Different people make different assumption about their future career job. However, people never know how their job will end like. So instead of making assumption they can actually start by asking questions to people who were working in that field, or by surfing the internet and looking for some answers.

In the beginning I thought that chemical engineers are those people who are most of the time shut in their home and study or work all day, In fact, I was totally wrong. There may be people that are shut in but most of the people that I met were normal people. In addition, they were all happy about their jobs and they said that I made the right decision to choose Chemical Engineering.

So what is chemical engineering? Like all engineers, chemical engineers use math, physics, and
economics to solve technical problems. The difference between chemical engineers and other types of engineers is that they apply knowledge of chemistry in addition to other engineering disciplines (Helmenstine). According to Anne’s article chemical engineers can work in a lot of places like Oil and natural gas industry, nuclear plants, and as pharmaceuticals etc. I also found out that the chemical engineers make designs and invent new processes, and some invent new instruments and facilities. Dr. Helmenstine wrote a lot of helpful articles about chemical engineering and what is it all about.
